Why brands take the plan

Why a monthly 3D team, not a quote per project?

3D, website and automations — one team

Render Friends makes the images, Umberform, our sister studio, does the website and automations. One plan, one pool of hours.

Hours agreed before we start

Every task gets its estimate first. If it runs long, the first 15% is on us; beyond that we stop and ask.

No contract

Pay month by month and stop before the next payment. Pause once a quarter, between collections.

Unused hours carry over

Hours you don't use move to the next month, once — a quiet month is not money lost.

Money back for undelivered work

Any work we did not deliver, we refund.

A reply within 12 hours

Most of our work is for brands that come back season after season — one US furniture manufacturer has ordered more than 15 projects and is still ordering. The plan turns that into a monthly team.

Compared

Is it cheaper than your own staff or a 3D studio?

Your own staff

$16,800

a month

A 3D artist and a web developer in the US, full time — about 320 hours, paid whether there is work or not.

Salaries alone, before taxes, software and hiring.

A 3D studio and a web agency

$2,400+

a month

3D only, one scene at a time — where 3D subscriptions start.

The website is a second contractor and a second bill.

This plan

$500–2,000

a month

25 to 100 hours of 3D, website and automations — you pay for the hours you need, not for a full-time team.

The hours of every task agreed before we start.

US median pay, May 2025: special effects artists and animators $102,030, web developers and digital designers $99,520 a year — U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. 3D subscription prices: Rendify, from $2,399 a month for one active scene, checked November 2026.

When your own staff is the better choice: with 160 hours of work or more every month, all year, hiring can cost less. We will tell you if that is where you are.

How it works

How does the monthly plan work?

  1. 1

    We write your improvement plan

We look at your images, catalogue, website and the jobs you still do by hand, and list what to improve, most useful first, each with its hours.

  2. 2

You send a task, we estimate, then we work

Three sofas to render, a new collection page, enquiries into your CRM — you get the hours before we start.

  3. 3

A quiet month? We suggest the next job

We take the next item from your plan and start only after your yes.

  4. 4

    A short report each month

What we did, the hours left, and what we suggest next.

FAQ

Questions about the 3D rendering subscription

What happens if I send no tasks this month?+

We pick the next item from your improvement plan and wait for your yes before starting. If you would rather pause, the hours move to the next month.

Do unused hours carry over?+

Yes, once: hours you don't use move to the next month. After that they expire.

Can I pause between collections?+

Yes, once a quarter. Most furniture brands pause in the quiet weeks between two launches.

What if a task takes longer than you estimated?+

The first 15% over the estimate is on us. If a task would run past that, we stop and check with you before going on.

Are revisions included?+

Revisions are counted in your plan's hours, like any other work, and each one shows in the monthly report.

What if you don't deliver?+

You get your money back for any work we did not deliver.

Is there a contract?+

No. You pay each month in advance and can cancel at any time before the next payment.

Is this the same as a 3D rendering retainer?+

Close to it: you reserve 25, 50 or 100 hours a month, from $500, and spend them on 3D images, your website or automations. There is no contract, and unused hours carry over once.

Why is the first month cheaper?+

The first month is charged at our cost: $375 on Start, $750 on Grow and $1,500 on Scale. From the second month the plan costs its full price of $500, $1,000 or $2,000.

Why does it cost less than other 3D subscriptions?+

You buy hours, not an open queue: 25 hours start at $500 a month, while the 3D-only subscriptions we compared start at about $2,400. The same plan also covers your website and automations, so there is no second agency to pay.

How long does a new product render take?+

A 3D model and three angles on white take 6–10 hours of work; with a styled room shot, 17–25 hours. Once the model exists, each extra fabric takes 20–30 minutes per angle. A whole range takes weeks: the 30-SKU catalogue for Dragonfly Furniture took 6–8 weeks.

What do you need from us to model a product?+

CAD files, drawings or photographs. KAS Kopenhagen had no usable 3D files for its Kai nursery range, so we modelled the dresser and wardrobe from the photos and technical drawings the brand sent.

Who owns the 3D models and images?+

You do — the models, the renders and every file we make for you. Unreleased products stay under NDA.

Do you work on websites you didn't build?+

Yes — WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or hand-written code. Umberform looks at the site first and tells you what can change and how many hours it takes.

What is not included?+

A whole new website, a product configurator and animation. We quote them as separate projects, with a discount for plan members.

Who does the work?+

Render Friends' 3D artists, a team of 15+, make the images; Umberform's team does design, development and automations. Oleh and Irene lead both studios and are your contacts.

How do we talk, and how fast do you reply?+

By email, in English. Plan members get a reply within 12 hours.
